Prioritizing Your Sales Pipeline by Defining Clear Deal Health Criteria
We all have those mornings where we open the CRM dashboard, see forty deals staring back at us, and have no clue where to start. Some have been stuck in "negotiation" for a month. Others look promising but haven't had a real meeting in two weeks. When you try sorting it mentally, you end up spinning your wheels instead of focusing on the one or two deals that'll actually move the needle on your quota.
Claude steps in as your strategic thinking partner to cut through the noise. You don't just throw a spreadsheet at it. You tell it exactly what a healthy deal looks like for you right now. Feed it your exported pipeline data plus your specific criteria — deal size, momentum, next steps — and it grades everything for you. It groups your deals into clear categories so you can grab your coffee and immediately jump on the accounts that matter most.
Key insight: Claude acts as a logic engine that scores deals based entirely on the specific rules you give it — it does not have an inherent understanding of what a "good" deal looks like for your specific industry.

Stalled
Deal triage
Sort the noise and rank your opportunities based on momentum, deal size, and the criteria that matter to you this quarter.
Stalled deal spotting
Identify accounts that have been sitting in the same stage for too long without any meaningful movement.
Effort allocation
Show you exactly which three deals need your immediate attention today so you don't waste time on dead opportunities.
Without Claude
You stare at your CRM dashboard guessing which deals are actually moving, wasting time chasing ghosts instead of closing real revenue.
With Claude
You get a clear, prioritized triage list that tells you exactly where to focus your energy today.
Here's a simple rhythm you can use to sort out your pipeline before your weekly sales meeting.
1
Export pipeline data
Grab the raw CSV file or simply copy the text view of your current pipeline directly from your CRM.
2
Define prioritization criteria
Figure out what matters right now — decide what makes a deal "High Priority" for you this week, like a close date in the current month and a clear next step.
3
Paste into Claude
Drop your exported data and your specific rules into the prompt window.
4
Generate the triage
Ask Claude to sort your deals into clear buckets — like "Must Act Today," "Nurture," and "Dead."
5
Validate with manager
Take this prioritized list to your one-on-one and check it against your manager's perspective to make sure you're both aligned.
Note: Claude can't automatically log into Salesforce or HubSpot to read your live pipeline, so you have to manually export and paste the data yourself.
If you don't give Claude strict rules, it will just give you a generic summary of your spreadsheet. Use these prompts to get real strategic value.
Prompt 1 — Deal triage
Act as a sales strategist. Here is my exported pipeline data: [Insert Data]. Sort these deals into three buckets: High Priority, Watchlist, and At Risk. Use these criteria: High Priority means the deal size is over $50k and the last contact was within 7 days. At Risk means there is no scheduled next step.
Crucial instruction: Tell me exactly why you placed each deal in its bucket.
Prompt 2 — Stalled deal action plan
Look at the deals you just put in the At Risk bucket. Give me one specific action step I can take today to revive each of these stalled accounts.
Crucial instruction: Base the action on the notes provided in the data. Don't give me generic sales advice.
Before you start executing on this prioritized list
Criteria alignment: did Claude actually follow your rules for deal size and dates?
Blind spots: are there any deals you know are hot but the AI flagged as dead simply because you forgot to update your notes?
Actionability: are the next steps for stalled deals actually something you can execute right now?
Data hygiene: did you clean up any messy formatting in your export before pasting it into the AI?
Gut check: does the top priority deal actually feel like the right place to spend your time today?
Important: AI prioritization reflects only the data you provide. If your CRM is filled with missing notes or outdated close dates, Claude will produce a flawed triage list that could misdirect your sales effort entirely. You have to feed it accurate data to get accurate advice.
